"Come on, Growlithe, we've been through this before, just get inside your Pokeball, and I'll hop across the stepping stones myself," Tala coaxed, lightly petting the orange, canine creature on the top of the head. "I know you don't like water - or your Pokeball for that matter, but I'll let you out as soon as we are across, I promise, you can trust me, you know that." Tala told him, ruffling his fur fondly she watched her Pokemon.
Growlithe whined rather loudly, before finally giving in to his partner's will. He knew full well that he could trust her. He stood on all fours now, giving her face a gentle lick, he cast his eyes warily towards the river that ran behind Tala, taking a little step backwards as he did so.
"Alright," Tala said, smiling as she removed his pokeball from her belt, "I'll see you in a minute, Growlithe, hang tight!" She said, and within in instant a red beam absorbed her pokemon. She shifted herself about, attaching the pokeball securely to her hip, rolling her shoulders to make sure her bag was fastened correctly as well. She smiled, stretching her legs for a moment, she bit briefly down on her lower lip, before taking the first leap across the set of nine stepping stones and towards the other side of the river.
Tala was actually doing quite well, not even slipping as she hopped from one slimy rock to another, though, as she made it to the center of the river, a stray Magikarp hurtled down the rather rough river, flopping along the surface of the water. As she had not seen it coming, she had no idea what was going on, or what hit her ankles, for that matter, as she fell into fast flowing waters.
For a moment, she was pulled under the current, and water flooded into her lungs, but she had the sense about her to pull herself upwards. She broke the surface with a loud gasp, struggling for a moment as she was once more pulled under, before finally her hand grasp onto the side of a rock submerged in the water. Dragging herself to the surface yet again, she inhaled and spattered out water all at once, feeling weighted down and rather worn out, she continued to cough, pulling her torso out of the water, she looked around, realizing she was close to shore.
She threw herself into the water, purposely this time around, and paddled for shore, which she was quite glad to reach, as you can imagine. She huffed and puffed, not realizing that as she knelt on the shore Growlithe emerged from it's Pokeball to see if she were alright.
The puppy Pokemon licked her face softly once more, letting out a soft whine. He let out a howl or to as he paced around his choking trainer.
"It's... Alright, I'm... Okay..." Tala managed to say as she coughed, though her hacking soon settled down and she calmed down, which in turn eased Growlithe into a more peaceful mood. She up righted herself slowly, looking to the Pokemon that stood at her side, "At least no one was around to see that..." She pointed out, offering the creature a small smile.

But there had been someone watching, someone that had been ready to assist, but as she had saved herself, he'd merely remained leaning against a tree.
Quentin licked his lips, before giving a faint, cute little laugh. It was barely hearable, but adorable none the less, and it was strange, as he barely ever released so small a noise. He exhaled, smile fading from his face as he moved forward, his Charmander following at his heels. "You ok?" he asked somewhat gruffly.
He watched her growlithe, noting that they must have had a strong bond, thus he figured she was a kind trainer that appreciated her Pokemon. "I was ready to help, but by the time I got close enough you were pulling yourself out.." He flipped his hair, green eyes staring at her with a curious gleam.
Charmander peered out from behind Quen's legs, blinking some where he stood. The creature was somewhat nervous around other Pokemon. He looked to Growlithe meekly, as if he was curious about him, but didn't want to get too close.

Growlithe cocked his head a little as he heard someone approaching them, his ears perked as if he thought danger was approaching, though as the other trainer and his Pokemon came into the creature's range of sight it easily relaxed and turned his attention back to Tala.
Tala, whom did not noticed Quen until he spoke, turned her head to him in a somewhat jerky and uneven motion, her hand resting on the back of her head as she gave a sheepish smile, "Yeah, I'm fine. It was rather refreshing, really," She answered, allowing herself a short, soft laugh. Her hand soon fell to her side, but she soon offered it to him, "My name is Tala, Tala Camilleri, and this is my partner Pokemon, Growlithe." She cast a sidelong glance at her Pokemon as she mention him, watching him perk up a little.
Both Tala and her Growlithe stood tall and proud, not cocky, but genuinely proud to have the oppourtunity to train to try and become the best. They were indeed very close. Growlithe rarely ever saw the inside of his Pokeball, as he was such great company, and Tala hated to leave the poor fellow all cooped up in there like that.
Growlithe stretched out his neck a little, clearly sniffing at Quen and his Charmander, obviously very curious as well, but not even slightly shy or cautious.

Quen gave a soft nod, extending his hand to shake as well. "Nice to meet ya, Tala.. My name's Quentin.. and this is my Charmander." He licked his lips again and pet his Pokemon's head.
The male looked around for a few moments, shifting somewhat. "Hmm.." he murmered, wondering why it was so quiet out at the moment. "So.. how long have you been on the road..? I've only been out here a couple of days.."
Charmander slowly moved out from behind Quen, moving towards Growlithe and Tala, sniffing some as he moved. His eyes were bright and full of curiosity.

(I want to see Scorpion King 2. o: )

Tala shook Quen's hand, shaking it easily before releasing him. At this she set her hands to wringing out her hair and so forth, "I've been out and about for around the same amount of time. I decided to start training and whatnot at the same time that the other kids did in my town, but I already had my starter Pokemon so I was no exactly a part of that bunch," She pointed out, shrugging her shoulders a little as she shifted where she stood, dropping her pack from her shoulders to rest on the ground for a moment as it was rather heavy when sogged down with water.
Growlithe let out a playful bark, seeming to smile at the other Pokemon he pranced around Tala somewhat, before she gave him the nod that it was alright to explore or whatever, at which point he took a step closer to Charmander, and flopped down in a sitting position.

(I wouldn't mind seeing it. Just hope it's better than the first one. Mad

)
