Jem's Song

Post by Chris on Tue Aug 25, 2009 10:57 pm

My time has come, for this there's no cure
My fingers are numb, my eyes are sore
The smoke is thick, from my cigarette
My stomach is full, of lies and regrets.

I see the vultures overhead, circling round and round
Knowing I'm almost dead, waiting for me to hit the ground
Croaking calls of 'dinner', screeching for their friends
To feed upon this sinner, when he reaches his end.

I've got one foot in my grave, one guitar in my hand
Trying to be brave, when I'm faced with the end
Buried to my neck, almost six feet down
Struggling for my life, as I'm swallowed by the ground.

A fire licks at me, for all eternity
Suffering and pain, as far as I can see
slowly losing touch, with my humanity
forever trapped here, with my insanity
... Better it, than my vanity...

Chorus

My souls been lost, and never found
somewhere in the underground
where the devil lays his head
And the tortured scream
of kings and queens
keep me squirming in my bed
Where the sticks and stones
keep breaking my bones
and rattling in my head
And the empty dusts
of 'could's and must's
keep me regretting being dead
